Parts of a whole. An avant-garde zero waste collection that expands 3D origami into wearable art. The individual pieces of origami become something greater than themselves, once combined. By using squares of fabric in differing scales (7”x7”, 12”x12”, 20”x20”, 24”x24”, 48”x48”), numerous calculations were done to achieve zero waste with the 370+ pieces needed in total. These origami over-pieces are dynamic as light penetrates them, allowing for the changing qualities of the silver reflective fabric to be revealed. There becomes a performative aspect with the play of juxtaposing light and darkness. Take these pieces from runway to reality through the night and you’ll be seen and protected. The black jumpsuits serve as a structure to encapsulate the body and remain inconspicuous underneath the origami.
